Ami Ndukwe has 15 years of experience advising clients in complex commercial disputes, antitrust cases, investigations and regulatory compliance.

Qualified in California and England & Wales, he acts for clients in the technology, banking, energy, environmental and natural resources sectors in proceedings before arbitral tribunals and state, national, and international courts.

Ami has represented clients in matters before the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and the General Court of the European Union. He has managed cross-border disputes and investigations across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. He also regularly advises clients on risk mitigation, corporate governance, and compliance with national, regional, and global regulatory regimes.
 

Before joining Gryphon Law, Ami practiced at two global law firms in London and worked in-house at a U.S.-based investment firm in Los Angeles.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

  • Represented a U.K. technology firm in litigation against Google before the U.K. and E.U. courts related to the European Commission’s 2017 abuse of dominance decision and €2.42 billion fine.
     

  • Represented over a thousand plaintiffs from rural Zambian communities in a claim against global mining company Vedanta Resources Limited and its Zambian subsidiary concerning injury from health, soil, and water pollution.
     

  • Represented the successful intervener in the U.K. Supreme Court against Royal Dutch Shell in a precedent-setting case concerning corporate governance practices and environmental damage from oil spills in the Niger Delta.
     

  • Represented a syndicate of Middle-Eastern banks on a successful US$250 million claim against a Saudi steel corporation concerning a Sharia compliant project finance transaction for steel plants in the Middle East, Asia, and the U.K.  
     

  • Represented a major U.S. bank on a multimillion-dollar debt claim in the English and BVI courts against the liquidators of a fund based in the British Virgin Islands.
     

  • Represented multiple U.K. banks in defending over 50 separate litigation claims concerning allegations of historic mis-selling of regulated financial products. 
     

  • Represented a foreign government on challenging an arbitral award in England under the U.K. Arbitration Act 1996. 
     

  • Multi-jurisdictional litigation in the U.K., Netherlands, Germany, France, and Spain representing various multinational corporations in one of Europe's largest antitrust damages actions, addressing price fixing, overcharges, and other concerted practices.
